CMCEA members voted Wednesday, Aug. 19, to ratify our successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City. The ratified agreement goes to the Costa Mesa City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, for adoption. Upon City Council adoption, the new MOU will be final, and the City will begin implementing the terms above. We are pleased to announce that we have reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) with the City on a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Please join us next week on August 19 for an in-depth review of the agreement, an opportunity to ask questions, and to vote on ratification of the contract.

Since our last update, your Negotiations Committee has continued to meet with the City and make progress toward a successor agreement. Our next negotiations session will be in July.

Your Negotiation Committee has continued to meet with the City regarding CMCEA’s proposals. Our focus remains on the priorities identified by membership, including wages and the medical flex benefit contributions.

After careful consideration of your survey submissions, the Negotiation Committee submitted our first proposal April 29. Our next meeting with the City is scheduled for May 6. We will continue to keep you informed as we move through the process.

Your negotiations team is beginning the process of identifying member priorities, concerns, and proposal ideas. We are asking all members to complete our Negotiations Survey. The feedback you provide will help guide the development of proposals and establish bargaining priorities.

As we prepare for upcoming negotiations with the City, your participation is essential to ensuring that negotiations reflect the needs and interests of the membership. We will hold two membership meetings this Tuesday to provide important updates, discuss the negotiations process, review key issues, and answer questions.

Voting will be open through Jan. 9, 2026. This is an important opportunity for members to have a direct voice in the leadership and direction of our Union.
