PCEA has secured a mediated agreement that provided a 2.75% increase in January, followed by a 2.5% increase in July, for a total of 5.25% over the term. The agreement also includes increased vacation accruals, a guaranteed holiday closure this year, and improvements to educational and tuition reimbursement benefits.

PCEA members overwhelmingly rejected the reissued Last, Best, and Final Offer (LBFO) issued by the City. At every stage, the City has refused to show PCEA workers the recognition they deserve. Last week the City issued its Last, Best and Final Offer (LBFO), then rescinded it when we asked questions. Today, your PCEA Negotiations Team told the City what members already decided: We will reject the City’s LBFO. We meet with the City again Thursday, May 21—save the date. Details will be forthcoming.

On Wednesday, May 6, the City issued a Last, Best, and Final Offer (LBFO) seven weeks before contract expiration. Our contract expires June 30, 2026. We will have a general membership meeting at noon Monday, May 11 in the council chambers to discuss and consider the LBFO.

Your bargaining team has met with the City several times since our last update. Unfortunately, the City has still not demonstrated meaningful movement from its initial proposal. To strengthen our message, we are gathering additional personal statements from members to share with the Council regarding the real challenges of working for Placentia in today’s economy.

Unlike last year’s negotiations, the City has put forward proposals that include increases to both wages and medical benefits. PCEA is continuing to push for more to ensure a fair and competitive agreement for our members.
