Dear OCEA member,
My name is Maria Corona and I am OCEA’s First-Vice President. I have been a member of the OCEA Board of Directors since 2008. I also serve as the Chair of OCEA’s Health and Welfare Trust and serve on OCEA’s budget committee.
Today, I am happy to announce that, after nearly 30 years with the County Public Defender’s office, OCEA President Judy Bowling has decided to end her distinguished career and retire from County service.
On behalf of the OCEA Board of Directors and our 18,000 members, we extend our best wishes to Judy. Judy has been a dedicated advocate for OCEA members, serving as a workplace Steward, Board member, and President of OCEA. Her commitment to identifying and cultivating leadership within the union has contributed significantly to the organization’s continued strength and future promise.
As OCEA’s First-Vice President, I will preside over the two upcoming regular meetings of the OCEA Board of Directors and I will fulfill the duties of President until the Board elects a new President at our meeting in January. The new OCEA President will be announced to members following the January meeting. I also hope you will join us for our Virtual General Membership Meeting Dec. 17. Details are below.
Thank you for being amazing public servants!
In Solidarity,
Maria Corona, First-Vice President
OCEA
