CMCEA members,
Since our last update, your Negotiation Committee has continued to meet with the City regarding CMCEA’s proposals.
- May 6: We met with the City and discussed the City Council’s reaction to our initial proposal. While we did not receive a formal response at that meeting, the discussion helped clarify the City’s position and the issues that required further authority from Council.
- May 19: The City’s team returned to Council to receive authority to respond to our initial proposal.
- May 20: We met with the City again and received their first formal proposal.
- May 28: After reviewing the City’s response, the Negotiation Committee prepared a counterproposal and submitted our second proposal.
We made some progress and reached tentative agreements on a couple of smaller ticket items. Our focus remains on the larger priorities identified by the membership that will have the greatest long-term impact, including wages and the medical flex benefit contributions.
The City presented our latest proposal to the City Council in closed session on Tuesday, June 2. We are scheduled to meet with the City next Monday, June 8, to receive their counterproposal.
We will keep you updated as negotiations move forward. Please contact any member of the Negotiation Committee if you have questions.
Thank you for your continued involvement and support.
In Solidarity,
CMCEA Negotiation Committee
