OCEA members,
MARK YOUR CALENDARS. Thursday, July 30, is a critical membership meeting.
Our MOU expired one month ago. The County has still failed to provide even a semblance of a reasonable proposal to OCEA members. Not only that, the County has also proposed concessions that could reduce the pay of thousands of OCEA members! Of course this is totally unacceptable.
We know the County has funds to provide wage increases, but a small handful of County executives have led the Board of Supervisors to mistakenly believe they are broke.
So we are taking our message public to expose the truth: While workers and residents are being short-changed, the County is busy unnecessarily stuffing cash into its piggy bank. This is travesty for every taxpayer and resident who relies on public services and an insult to every worker who provides those services.
At our membership meetings on July 30, the OCEA Negotiations Team will detail the County’s proposal and OCEA’s position in negotiations. Our team will also let you know what’s ahead in the coming weeks so we can mobilize and organize for action.
If the County fails to move? We’ll apply pressure where they feel it!
