OCEA members,
Over the past year, ER, DR, and Intake have experienced significant changes, with additional changes on the horizon. From the integration of ER and Intake to the implementation of CARES, many of you have shared questions, concern, and feedback about how these changes are affecting your work.
To provide employees with a dedicated forum to raise workplace issues, share ideas, and provide input throughout these transitions, OCEA and CFS Executive Management have established a Labor Management Committee (LMC) specifically for ER, DR, and Intake Social Services Workers (SSWs) and Senior Social Services Supervisors (SSSSs).
Your employee representatives on the LMC are:
Primaries
- SSW Natalie Bramlett (ER I)
- SSW Nadine Arasoghli (ER II)
- SSW Rachel Guerrero (Intake)
- SSSS Maria Uyesugi (ER I)
- SSSS Cindy Baasch (ER II)
Alternates
- SSW Miriam Salazar (ER I)
- SSSS Stefanie Braum (DR)
The committee also includes OCEA Senior Labor Relations Representative Kerensa Schupmann, OCEA Labor Relations Representative Alisha Greene, CFS Director Loan English, CFS Deputy Director Ilan Wolf, CFS Senior Human Services Managers Edja Kurtovic and Elena Valle, and CFS HR Deputy Director Hilda Juarez.
Labor Management Committees are a contractual right provided through your Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). You can review the applicable LMC language here:
Community Services MOU – For SSWs, LMC language begins on page 118.
Supervisory Management MOU – For SSSSs, LMC language begins on page 126.
The success of this LMC depends on your participation.
The issues brought forward by employees will help drive the committee’s discussions and identify workplace concerns, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
If there is an issue you would like the LMC to consider, please complete the Workplace Issue Submission Form. In accordance with the MOU, submissions should include:
- A description of the issue;
- Your recommended change(s); and
- The anticipated benefit(s) of the proposed change.
Submissions may be made anonymously. Please keep in mind, however, that anonymity may limit the committees ability to follow up with you if additional information or clarification is needed.
Completed forms may be submitted to your OCEA Labor Relations Representatives, any member of the LMC, or CFS Management representatives. You may also fill out the Google Form located on your sharepoint site. Director Loan English will be sending you an email with the link to the sharepoint.
We encourage you to use this forum to raise concerns, share ideas, and identify opportunities to improve the workplace. Your involvement helps ensure that employee perspectives are part of the conversation as ER, DR, and Intake continue to navigate these changes.
Thank you for your engagement and participation.
In Solidarity,
OCEA
