Grip and DNA/Collections Units Update: May 21, 2026

OCEA members,

We recently heard from the department that, to comply with budget cuts directed by the County CEO’s Office, the DA’s Office will be suspending the GRIP and DNA/Collections Units. We know that a number of you who work in those programs are directly affected.

We are working closely with the County to ensure that every OCEA-represented employee in those programs is moved into another position within the County. Our number one priority is making sure no one gets laid off. We are actively working to get answers, though we do not have full details yet.

We will meet at noon Thursday, May 28, 2026, to share what we know, answer your questions, and talk through next steps together.

If you have questions or concerns you would like to submit before the meeting, please send them to OCEA Organizing Specialist Michelle Truong at MTruong@ocea.org.

We were also informed that OCDA HR will be scheduling individual meetings with impacted staff during the week of 6/8 where they will share classification(s) and assignment(s) available for each employee. If you would like union representation in that meeting, please contact OCEA Labor Relations Representative Peyton Chambers at PChambers@OCEA.org

We are monitoring this situation closely and are working to protect your rights.

In Solidarity,

OCEA
