OMEA Members Ratify Contract

Dear OMEA member,

OMEA members have voted to ratify the tentative agreement. Thank you to every member who voted. It reflects a deeply engaged membership, which strengthens our voice at the table.

This one-year agreement delivers a 3% cost-of-living adjustment, guaranteed job security, strong parity language, and a seat at the table on workplace flexibility for  the year ahead. Click here to see full terms.

The City Council is expected to adopt the agreement on April 28.

Even with ratification, your continued engagement is critical. The City is facing a serious and ongoing budget crisis. Reporting by the Voice of OC highlights the scope:

  • A structural deficit caused by nearly $18 million in debt service
  • $17.3 million in deferred liabilities related to workers’ compensation, general liability, and employee accrued liability funds
  • A general fund that staff says cannot withstand more cuts

City leaders are again discussing a potential 1% sales tax measure to avoid deeper financial instability. Mayor Dan Slater acknowledged what many of you have been saying: “We continue to bleed quality, good employees from every department.”

You’ve kept this City running through frozen positions, staffing shortages, and delayed projects—conditions that would have broken a lesser workforce.

OMEA will keep advocating for you—at the table, at City Hall, and wherever decisions are made that affect your work and your future.

Stay engaged—show up, speak out, and stay informed. It matters.

In Solidarity,

OMEA
