PCEA members,
As you may know, last week the City issued its Last, Best and Final Offer (LBFO), then rescinded it when we asked questions. Despite the City’s decision to withdraw the LBFO, we met with members on Monday and walked through every detail of the offer. The members provided clear direction: The deal is unacceptable.
Today, your PCEA Negotiations Team told the City what members already decided: We will reject the City’s LBFO. The City said they have no room to move. We reject the City’s position.
These are the facts:
- The City has engaged in surface bargaining: Your team has moved every meeting. The City has not.
- The disparity between PCEA and other represented employees is a slap in the face: Your work keeps Placentia running. Dispatchers. Streets crews. Inspectors. The City cannot replace your expertise and years of experience overnight. You deserve better than scraps.
- Members are struggling to pay their bills: The City heard this directly and offered nothing. They need to demonstrate leadership and take care of ALL their employees.
The City’s negotiators meet with the Council next Tuesday, May 19, 2026. We meet with the City again Thursday, May 21. If the City reissues the LBFO with no real movement, we are prepared to take action.
SAVE THE DATE: Monday, June 2, Noon-1 p.m.
Clear your lunch hour. Stand with your co-workers. Details will be forthcoming.
PCEA members will not back down.
In Solidarity,
Your PCEA Negotiations Team
