Even today as our country stands divided in one of the most politically polarized environments since the Vietnam War, we can stand together to honor the sacrifices made by so many to preserve American values and keep our country safe.

 

OC Register: Veterans bare souls about combat, military experience at Heroes Hall storytelling performance

Seven veterans described their military experiences and bared their souls to the crowd as part of “Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project,” a public performance put together by Anaheim-based Chance Theater. The performance was the third installment of the storytelling project, but the first at Heroes Hall, Orange County’s only veterans museum.

OC Register: Robin of TV’s “Batman” will lead the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, which starts Friday, May 26

This year, the festival’s grand marshal is Burt Ward, the original Boy Wonder – Robin – in the late 1960s “Batman” television series. Ward, 71, will be in the Strawberry Parade on Saturday and sell dog food for his nonprofit Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions.

Sacramento Bee: No funding plan doesn’t stop lawmakers from moving health care bill along

Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, introduced SB 562, a sweeping overhaul of the state’s health insurance market. He’s also the chair of Senate Appropriations. The committee passed the bill with a 5-2 vote during a fast-paced suspense file hearing, clearing the way for it to be taken up on the Senate floor next week.
