Anaheim City Councilwoman Kris Murray publicly criticized Mayor Tom Tait at a city council meeting Tuesday over a phone call he had with Orange County Fire Authority Chief Jeff Bowman exploring the possibility of outsourcing the city’s fire department.

 

Voice of OC: Sheriff Didn’t fire or demote any jail managers for failures that enabled escape.

Despite agreeing that serious failures by her own jail managers enabled last year’s jailbreak, Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens did not fire or demote anyone over it, according to a top Sheriff’s Department official.

Los Angeles’ police union has thrown its support behind a national push for federal funding and other resources to help officers better prepare for interactions with people who are mentally ill.

LA Times: $5-million program finds housing for only 268 veterans, report says.

A 5-million program to assist homeless veterans has helped only 268 get off the streets over 18 months, according to a recent Los Angeles County civil grand jury report — in part because a $1.2-million contract to provide interim shelter has been delayed for nearly a year.
