The plan also calls for permanently closing the west side of the flood control channel between 17th Street in Santa Ana and Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach beginning Nov. 10, a move that is expected to displace a large population of homeless people who have set up camp along the river.

OC Register: 3 Santa Ana police officers sentenced to community service for petty theft and vandalism charges connected to pot shop raid

On Tuesday, two officers pleaded no contest in Orange County Superior Court to one misdemeanor count of petty theft and were sentenced to 40 hours of community service. In a no contest plea, the defendant does not admit guilt.

Pay for teachers has stagnated nationally over the past two decades, and fallen behind earnings of other workers with college degrees, the Economic Policy Institute, a Washington-based nonpartisan think tank, concluded in a report released Tuesday.
