Tuesday’s action by the supervisors will allow county officials to spend up to $2 million on more beds as they are needed, without returning to the board for additional approval.

The harbor water area in the City of Huntington Beach at Sunset Aquatic Marina and Portofino Cove Marina are closed due to a sewage spill. The 600 gallons spill was caused by a private sewer lateral blockage in Stanton.

OC Register: Orange County students join national protest against gun violence in schools

Organizers are planning to stay out for at least 17 minutes, memorializing the Parkland victims, which included 14 students and three staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Many are planning to read the victims’ names, set out empty desks or chairs and release balloons.

Associated Press: Senate bill would diminish mortgage disclosures by banks

Removing the spotlight, say critics, could allow lenders to unfairly deny loans or charge excessive interest and escape notice. Proponents of narrowing the scope of reporting requirements say they unfairly affect smaller, rural banks that are trying to remain active in mortgage lending.
