Voice of OC: Santa Ana Council now wants district elections on the November ballot

A narrow majority of Santa Ana City Council members, who were defeated in their efforts to put district elections on the June ballot, voted Tuesday to start the process of having voters decide in November whether to change the City Council election system from at-large to district-based voting.

The move had been openly discussed for weeks, with Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and other council members saying they want to bring other Orange County cities into an ongoing lawsuit being presided over by U.S. District Judge David O. Carter.
