In a report to council members, Costa Mesa officials acknowledged needle exchange programs decrease the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C but Santa Ana city leaders raised concerns about the public health risk of discarded used syringes, scores of which were found near the program site.

Last year, the Register’s program invited 1,325 local organizations to participate with 203 surveyed. The annual gala held in Anaheim recognized a record 140 local companies and organizations with more than 700 people attending.

LA Times: Politicians who once had competing ideas on net neutrality now join forces in the California Legislature

Under new amendments unveiled Monday, Sens. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) have rewritten their dueling net neutrality bills to complement each other — and added conditions so that both must be signed by the governor for the other to take effect.
