Orange County population growth cut in half in 2018

In the year ended July 1, Orange County’s population rose 10,962 — 0.34 percent — to 3.22 million, No. 3 among California’s counties. But these fresh state demographic statistics show that yearly growth of residents is down 55 percent vs. an average 24,304 annually in the previous five years.

The ramp’s section that leads to the northbound freeways will go from two to three lanes, while the barrier that separates the 22 from all of the merging traffic will go from one mile to a half-mile. Vehicles won’t need to hit that ramp until later, and with more elbow room on the connector, the backup is supposed to lessen.

Winds will whip around in Southern California into the weekend

A wind advisory will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday, with winds expected to whip through stretches in the Fontana, Crestline, Mission Viejo and Burbank areas. A separate advisory for Santa Clarita, Valencia, Woodland Hills, Northridge and Universal City was expected to end Friday afternoon.
