As of Jan. 1, state law requires cars leave dealerships sporting temporary license plates with assigned numbers, but toll roads operator has found that thousands are still driving without them – and that means they aren’t paying tolls.

OC Register: Coalition of gig workers, businesses urge lawmakers to protect independent contractor status

A coalition of self-employed workers and business leaders are urging state lawmakers to expand a bill that would allow more independent contractors to be exempted from employee status. The bill originated to put a stop to rampant abuse in the classification of independent contractors to avoid paying fair wages and benefits.
