How will more than a billion dollars in new COVID relief money be spent in Orange County? And will the public be brought into the discussion early, or towards the end after the plan has been mostly already decided in private?

 

Voice of OC: New pandemic relief money could reshape Santa Ana and fix systemic legacy issues

At long last, Santa Ana could vastly improve high speed internet access across town and bridge residents’ digital divide. The city could also create its own health department. Millions could go directly to residents for relief in the form of debit cards coming out of the Coronavirus pandemic, perhaps for exclusive use within the city to boost local businesses.

 

Voice of OC: Vigil in Garden Grove to honor those killed in recent mass shootings as calls to stop Asian Hate amplify in OC

Hate incidents against Asian Americans in the county have increased tenfold between 2019 and 2020, according to Alison Edwards, CEO of the Orange County Human Relations Council. The organization is still very much collecting data on such incidents from the past year.

 

Voice of OC: More questions are raised over Anaheim officially recognizing Little Arabia District

After many months, even years of waiting through three years have not been enough to properly and officially recognize Anaheim’s Little Arabia District.The effort to get the city to officially recognize Little Arabia has gone for much longer than a decade and through three different Mayors. The civic council has been petitioning the city for the signage.
