OC Register: OC’s vaccination efforts shift from the vulnerable to the hesitant

As Orange County pushes toward a goal of having most residents vaccinated against COVID-19 by July 4, health officials, healthcare providers and local nonprofits are trying everything they can think of to find and persuade people who haven’t yet gotten a shot.

 

Supervisor Doug Chaffee’s Office: 4th District Virtual Job Fair

Orange County Vice-Chairman Doug Chaffee is hosting a Virtual Job Fair on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Vice-Chair is working with the OC Workforce Development Board, Orange Community Services, American’s Job Center of California, 4th District Cities, and Chambers of Commerce.

The threatened lawsuit came from Kevin Shenkman, a lawyer who’s been waging similar fights across the state for nearly a decade. Similar letters have been sent to the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Orange and others, who have all complied and changed to districts.

Two months into his first term as a council member, and with his city checks still coming, Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Tito Ortiz filed an unemployment claim with the California Employment Development Department.

“One of the reasons why we want to establish a policy is so that everybody is sort of on notice that if you want to engage in constituent blocking, you could be opening up the city to a lawsuit like what happened with [former Irvine Mayor] Christina Shea,” Councilman Mike Posey said in a phone interview.

The event was held at the DA’s headquarters, after an original site for a victims memorial was switched from Mason Regional Park in Irvine to a corner of the DA’s headquarters across the street from the Sheriff’s Department headquarters and the county jail.
