Today may be the last day for Santa Ana residents to call for a city budget this year that reflects their needs, as council members are set to take a final vote this evening on solidifying their new $353 million taxpayer dollar spending plan.

 

Voice of OC: Santa Ana police questioned about why some sexual assault reports receive the same urgency as graffiti

The system gives certain calls a 1-5 priority level — a 1 demanding top priority and a 5 demanding the least, according to the city. A spreadsheet of that data, reviewed by Voice of OC, indeed shows that reports about some sexual assaults and rape fall on priority 3.

But the way the virus – and its variants present in Orange County – might spread after Tuesday’s reopening will depend on two things: How quickly more people get vaccinated, and how well the public sticks to precautions still in place.

OC Register: World’s largest firefighting helicopters land in O.C. to help battle wildfires in Southern California

The pair of Chinook CH-47s helitankers, which can carry up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant or water, landed at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos. The helicopters join the fleets of the Orange, Los Angeles and Ventura county fire departments as part of a joint disaster-response team.

Residents have until Friday at 5 p.m. to apply for the vacant seat, after a unanimous 6-0 vote during a special council meeting last week. Online applications are available at bit.ly/hbcitycouncil, or those interested can visit the city clerk’s office at City Hall.

KTLA: California vaccine lottery: Winners in L.A., Orange and Riverside counties selected for $50,000 prizes

Those who were chosen for the second batch of $50,000 prizes included three people from Los Angeles County, and one resident apiece in Orange and Riverside counties. Last week, three people from L.A. County and one from Orange County were among the group of 15.
