Although daily cases rates in the U.S. are the highest they’ve been in the course of the nearly two-year pandemic, far fewer people who get infected now are progressing to severe illness that requires hospital care.

The county reported five more deaths as of Monday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 5,895.
