Adele for OCERS
Dear OCEA member,
My name is Adele Tagaloa. I am a Vote Center Site Lead at the Orange County Registrar of Voters Office. I have been an OCEA member since I began my full-time County employment, and I became a Steward in 2012. I serve on the OCEA Board of Directors as the Union’s Secretary—and I am a proud member of OCEA!
I was elected as your Trustee to the OCERS Board of Retirement in 2019. I have spent the past 3 years ensuring a strong voice for working families on the 10-member board. I AM RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION because I believe when you've worked your whole life you deserve to retire with peace of mind, knowing your pension will be there for you.
As your Trustee I've been a fierce advocate for you and your family—and I've had many accomplishments on behalf of Orange County public servants in my first term. I currently serve on the OCERS Governance Committee, as Vice-Chair of the Investment Committee, and I Chair the Disability Committee. I am especially proud of my work on the Disability Committee, ensuring fairness and certainty for members when they are most in need.
In each of these areas I am a voice for you, the workers. I understand the importance of a strong, well-funded pension system that can take care of not just public servants like me and you, but for our families too.
Remember, your retirement is my retirement.
Advocating for Orange County's public workers also requires action at the statewide level. In California, there is the State Association of County Retirement Systems (SACRS) consisting of 20 independent county retirement systems in California. I am honored to serve on the Executive Committee for SACRS as the Secretary. SACRS supports its system members by providing education and insight to trustees and staffs so that they can be more effective stewards of their systems' pension plans.
I AM ASKING FOR YOUR VOTE AND YOUR SUPPORT FOR MY RE-ELECTION. The election takes place August 29–October 4.
It's critical we have a retirement security advocate who will fight for you, but I can't win the battle alone—I need your help! There are several ways you can participate that fit into your busy schedule. If you want to get more involved in the protection of your retirement security by volunteering to help me and my pro-worker agenda, please go to ocea.org/getinvolved. You will receive more information about the election soon—stay tuned!
In Solidarity,
Adele Tagaloa
