AMEA Class & Comp Study Update: Sept. 26, 2023

Dear AMEA member,

As you may know, the City of Anaheim and its contract consultant Segal are conducting a citywide Classification & Compensation study. AMEA is one of the stakeholders and our representatives will meet with the City in early October. That same week—on Oct. 10 & 11—employees will be invited and encouraged to attend an informational session. Beginning Oct. 13 some employees will then be asked to participate electronically in a Job Description Questionnaire.

For those selected, it is critical to complete your JDQ in a thorough and accurate manner. We all need to ensure that the position description the study includes fully encompasses the work you perform. That’s the only way your classification can be matched as closely as possible to a similar position in the competitive labor market.

If you do not receive a JDQ, please try and collaborate with individual(s) who have received one if possible. If you have questions regarding the study, please contact your AMEA Board, OCEA Labor Relations Representatives or the City’s Employee Relations Division.

Class & Comp Key Activity Timeline

Oct. 10 & 11: Informational Sessions

Oct. 13: Job Description Questionnaire begins

Oct. 27: Deadline for employees to submit JDQ to supervisor for review

Nov. 24: All JDQs must be completed

Please note, there are no guarantees of reclassifications, pay grade changes, or wage increases. Any proposed changes to compensation or benefits will be addressed with AMEA through the meet and confer process.

Your involvement and participation in the study are critical to ensure AMEA workers are fairly and competitively compensated for your contributions to the City. Please stay tuned for more updates as the Key Activity dates approach.

In Solidary,

Jonnae Barreras

AMEA President
