URGENT: Your Input Needed by Sept. 6 for Next CFS LMC

Dear OCEA member,

We need your input to drive meaningful change in Child and Family Services (CFS). The CFS Social Worker Labor Management Committee (LMC) is actively working to address division-wide issues, and your voice is crucial in this process. Our next meeting is Sept. 18, 2024, so we are asking for you to submit your concerns by Sept. 6.

As you may know, in October 2023, the LMC replaced the former CFS Caseload Management Forum. This monthly committee serves as a collaborative partnership between OCEA members, OCEA labor relations staff, and CFS management. Your LMC representatives are workplace leaders committed to bringing your concerns to management. They play a crucial role in facilitating communication between OCEA members and CFS leadership.

Our objective is to propose improvements to workplace processes and resolve broad workplace issues. We are currently addressing global CFS improvements, including recruitment and retention strategies. Since October, your LMC team has shared numerous experiences and concerns with management by discussing topics such as:

  • Onboarding Process for New Social Workers
  • Inconsistencies in Supervision
  • Retention Concerns

Urgent Call for Input

The LMC team is now seeking input on new items for discussion. We need you to let us know what issues impact you and your co-workers the most. If there is an issue you would like to submit, please fill out this form for your LMC to discuss at our next committee meeting using this form.

Moving forward, we will have a standing deadline of the first Friday of each month for submissions to be discussed at that month's LMC meeting. Management has requested that we gather this information to have meaningful, effective discussions.

Please note:

  • Your responses will be processed by OCEA and LMC participants, not sent directly to management.
  • After submitting the form, an OCEA representative will contact you if further clarification is needed.
  • All information shared with management will be presented without identifying information.
  • We have a focus on global, division-wide issues rather than individual concerns.
