CFS Social Worker Update - Nov. 15, 2021
Dear OCEA Social Worker,
Two weeks ago, we sent Social Workers in CFS a communication regarding the status of workplace issues in the Agency. As mentioned, having worked with many of you on longstanding issues, like excessive caseloads and worker retention, it became abundantly clear the County of Orange needed political leadership to affect positive change. That is why we stood together to elect two labor champions to the Board of Supervisors—Supervisors Katrina Foley and Doug Chaffee. Last month, OCEA staff met with Supervisor Foley’s and Supervisor Chaffee’s executive staffs to brief them on the urgency of the situation facing Social Workers in Orange County.
We also asked Social Workers to complete a survey to provide updated information and supporting details related to your working conditions and concerns. Your responses are being reviewed by the OCEA staff and OCEA workplace leaders. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey.
We will be using some of this preliminary data during the next Caseload Management Forum taking place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. OCEA staff has also requested that we host the virtual meeting instead of management. This means that ONLY OCEA Staff will have access to the meeting chat so that frontline workers can provide real time feedback and fact checking on management during the meeting without fear of retaliation.

CFS Social Worker Briefings: To collectively solidify our demands and next steps with the Board of Supervisors, please join us at a virtual briefing for CFS Social Workers taking place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30.
More actions and information coming soon!
In Solidarity,
OCEA Team
