CFS Social Worker Update - December 9, 2021

Dear OCEA member,

Following our Social Worker briefing last week, a smaller group of CFS workers met Tuesday night to finalize our list of demands to be presented to SSA Director Debra Baetz on December 14, 2021. The focus of the meeting was to identify the top priorities and direct asks that will begin to relieve the unsustainable pressure on overwhelmed CFS workers. Thank you to the group of members that stayed late into the night making sure this document accurately reflects the challenges CFS workers face.

We will send an update after our meeting with the Director and other Agency managers to communicate the Department’s response and any other outcomes. We expect positive changes to be instituted without delay as a demonstration that agency management is actively listening to you. If the agency delays implementation, we will initiate workplace actions to potentially include press/media exposure, direct advocacy with the Board of Supervisors, and rallies and marches at SSA facilities.

CFS/OCEA Caseload Management Forum
We realize this is a very busy time. We also wanted to remind you there is a CFS Caseload Management Forum on December 15, 2021, at 9 a.m. We will send the Zoom information on Monday so keep an eye on your emails.
