Chris Prevatt gets OCEA endorsement for OCERS Board of Retirement
Dear OCERS member,
OCEA Board member Chris Prevatt has been endorsed for another three-year term on the Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS) Board of Retirement. On March 16, 2021, the OCEA Board unanimously endorsed Chris, which reflects the confidence the Union has in his ability to fight for your retirement security.
When your career in public service ends, you want to be sure your retirement benefit is there for you. That takes careful management of your biweekly retirement contributions and the contributions made by your employer per your MOU.
Chris was elected to the OCERS board in 2012 and has been a fierce advocate for all OCEA members. He is up for re-election in October 2021. As a staunch retirement security advocate, Chris has:
- Successfully fought attempts to needlessly increase your pension costs
- Established consistent and transparent rules governing how the OCERS Board handles policies that could drive up pension costs
- Eliminated anti-pension political interference by reforming the process for determining disability retirement
- Served as OCERS Chair and led several committees including Governance, Investment, and Investment Manager Monitoring
Chris is one of the public servants you have elected to keep a watchful eye on OCERS policies and administration. He is joined by fellow OCEA Board member Adele Tagaloa and retiree member and former OCEA President Frank Eley.
As a County worker, Chris understands that the management of OCERS must include the voice of workers to run effectively. Chris will continue to use his experience to defend your pension from unfair political attacks to be a pro-worker advocate, and to fight for all of you.
In Solidarity,
Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
