County Negotiations Update: Tentative Agreement Approved!

Dear OCEA member,

Last week, OCEA members voted to ratify the tentative agreements OCEA negotiated with the County. The Executive Committee of the OCEA Board of Directors certified the results of the ratification vote for all six OCEA-represented units. The ratification by OCEA members paved the way for the County Board of Supervisors to adopt the agreement during the Board of Supervisors meeting on June 27, 2023.

We are happy to report that the Board of Supervisors adopted our agreement by a 5-0 vote! This vote is the culmination of so much hard work and planning by OCEA members and leaders. For the first time in decades, we will not go past expiration on our MOU, and we are confident this is the start of a new day in OC.

While today marks the end of negotiations, the process of building a better workplace for OCEA members is never ending. The values represented at the negotiations table are enduring and go beyond any one negotiations cycle. In the coming months, OCEA leaders will assemble to implement important aspects of our MOU, while also meeting with workers to build internal capacity for our next negotiations cycle.
