Court Negotiations Update: Join the Union Action Team!
Dear OCEA member,
Negotiating a new labor agreement is the most impactful work of your union. Our Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) determine our rates of pay, healthcare arrangements, grievance procedure, ways to balance our work and home life, and more. In other words, your MOU establishes some of the most important life parameters for you and your family. The MOUs for workers in OCEA-represented bargaining units at the Orange County Superior Court are set to expire on Oct. 27, 2022.
The work to achieve fair and equitable agreements for you and your co-workers is already well under way! The first step involved members completing the 2022 Negotiations Bargaining Survey, and we sincerely thank every member who took the time to complete the survey. The information compiled from survey responses largely determines the issues your bargaining team will propose in negotiations. The second step was holding a membership meeting about the negotiations process in June at OCEA headquarters.
Now is the time for the next important step. A union’s greatest strength is our strength in numbers. That is why we are convening the Union Action Team! The UAT is a space where OCEA members can receive ADDITIONAL INFORMATION about negotiations so they can educate their co-workers and help mobilize OCEA members into action.
The primary responsibilities of the Union Action Team are:
- Participating in UAT meetings (virtual option available)
- Educating yourself about negotiations
- Attending union meetings in your workplace
- Distributing union literature and other information
