Hepatitis A vaccinations for at-risk county workers

Dear OCEA member,

As many of you know, there have been Hepatitis A outbreaks recorded among homeless populations in San Diego and Los Angeles Counties. In an effort to protect all County workers who could be exposed through their work if an outbreak occurs here, the County is offering Hepatitis A vaccinations to at-risk members of the county workforce.

Orange County’s Employee Health Services Department is currently reviewing a list of inclusion criteria to receive the Hepatitis A vaccination and will be reaching out to various agencies/departments to determine which employees are considered high risk. At this point, the criteria is any worker that has direct, ongoing, close contact with the homeless and direct drug-using individuals.

It is our understanding that notification will be sent that will identify those employees over the next few days. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact OCEA at (714) 835-3355.

In solidarity,

Jennifer Beuthin
OCEA General Manager
