I mailed in my OCERS election ballot!
HCA Program Supervisor, OCEA Board member and OCERS Trustee Chris Prevatt (pictured) is running for re-election to the OCERS Board of Retirement. He is OCEA's only endorsed candidate.
Dear OCERS member,
Today I completed and mailed in my ballot for the 2021 General Member Election for the OCERS Board of Trustees. It has been my pleasure to serve as your OCERS representative since 2013. During that time, I have focused much of my energy on ensuring that OCERS' operations are efficient and effective. I spent eight years on the Board’s Governance Committee ensuring that appropriate administrative policies and procedures are in place. I was instrumental in establishing our Personnel Committee, which provides a deeper level of board oversight on the personnel issues affecting OCERS.
Through my efforts on better governance, OCERS developed a plan for the continuity of OCERS business processes in the event of an emergency. Because of this planning and preparation, when the COVID-19 lockdown occurred, OCERS was ready from Day One to serve our members without missing a call. During the busiest time of year for retirements, all applications were processed on time despite the offices being closed to our staff and members.
Several years ago, I spearheaded a change in our Investment Policies to delegate the selection of investment managers to the Chief Investment Officer. Assigning this responsibility to our professional investment staff freed up the Board to focus on strategic direction and initiatives rather than the selection of individual managers. In addition, we have significantly increased the number of staff assigned to serve the benefits needs of our members.
You can help me to continue fighting for retirement security at OCERS by voting for me in the upcoming election. No postage is needed if you drop your ballot in the mail. If you are eligible to vote and did not receive a ballot, contact the Registrar of Voters at (714) 567-7600. Remember, your ballot must be received—not postmarked—at the Registrar's office by 9 a.m. Nov. 2.
Experience matters on the OCERS Board of Trustees. I hope to be able to continue my service to you as your Trustee so that you can rest assured that your retirement future is safe with OCERS.
In Solidarity,
Chris Prevatt
OCERS Trustee,
OCEA 2nd Vice President
