IHSS Summer Vacation Guidelines Update

Dear OCEA member, 

OCEA is aware of the Summer Vacation Guidelines recently sent to IHSS workers. Thank you to those who reached out about this issue. We were advised during the last Caseload Management Forum that a revised policy regarding summer and holiday time off requests was forthcoming. However, no details were shared at the time.

During the Forum OCEA and IHSS member participants articulated our concerns, noting increasing workloads with no reduction in sight. Restricting time off is not a viable approach, as less work-life balance negatively impacts overall retention—which created and perpetuates this issue.

We share your questions and concerns. We are scheduled to meet with SSA Management regarding these guidelines on Thursday, May 4. If you are interested in participating in the meeting, please call us ASAP.
