Improved Retiree Healthcare Update: Jan. 19, 2023

Dear OCEA member,

As you may know, your retiree medical benefits are about to change. Effective June 16, 2023, the County is transitioning from the current Retiree Medical Grant to a Health Reimbursement Arrangement. The Tentative Agreement implementing this change was ratified by OCEA members and approved by the County Board of Supervisors in December.

The County will soon mail you a postcard detailing next steps. Watch the video above where OCEA General Manager Charles Barfield discusses some important upcoming dates. PLEASE NOTE:Though the effective implementation date is June 16, you will have the opportunity to make decisions regarding your retiree medical benefits during a decision-making period beginning April 3.
