OCFA negotiations update, the JPA Board does not value you

Your bargaining team met with executive management this afternoon. We were hopeful that we would receive a proposal for a fair contract in recognition of all the work that you have done, especially during the COVID Pandemic. Unfortunately, the Fire Authority’s proposal was one big ZERO! A one-year extension and nothing else. No wage increases, no lump-sum payments, no additional time off, nothing to acknowledge all of the sacrifices that you have made as essential workers.

As contract negotiations with the City continue, an article published this week by the Fullerton Observer covered the City Council’s Budget Study Session on September 14, 2021. The article paints an accurate picture of a City Council majority ideologically tied to budget cuts even though the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided the City with ample funding.

This year, the OCEA Health & Welfare Trust open enrollment period is September 1 through September 30, 2021. Your open enrollment benefits enrollment guide is in the mail and you should receive it soon. Your benefits will remain the same through plan year January 1 through December 31, 2022, unless you submit new open enrollment forms to OCEA during open enrollment.
