Dear OCEA member,

A union is strong when we leverage our greatest strength, our strength in numbers. This is also true when we are talking about the retirement security of County public workers. Your pension is administered and governed by a nine-person Board of Trustees. Two of these OCERS Trustees are directly elected by you and your co/workers. Currently you are served by two tireless advocates for retirement security, Trustee Chris Prevatt and Trustee Adele Tagaloa. Chris and Adele work along with the other Trustees to ensure all County public workers can retire with dignity.

Periodically we provide an update on the latest news about your retirement security!

VOTE IRISS BARRIGA FOR OCERS IN 2024

Your OCEA Board of Directors took another step to secure your retirement benefits at their July meeting! Your Board has endorsed IRISS BARRIGA FOR OCERS in the General Member seat that will be up for election in 2024. The OCERS Board is made up of 10 members, two of whom are current OCEA members Chris Prevatt and Adele Tagaloa.

Chris plans to retire in the next year and is helping to prepare Iriss to fight for your retirement—just as he has over the last decade. Iriss works as a Senior Child Support Specialist in Child Support Services and has been with the County since 1997. She’s been a Trustee of the OCEA Health and Welfare Trust since 2019 and a member of your OCEA Board of Directors since 2021. Iriss is a fighter for OCEA members and our families! Iriss will work to ensure members have a strong voice on the OCERS Board, but WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET HER THERE! The election isn’t until 2024 but we must spread the word before then. More information and ways you can take action will come in the following months.

“I would like to be involved and make a difference—to see where our money’s going and being invested,” Iriss said. “I hope I can count on your vote.”
