It's National Voter Registration Day!
National Voter Registration Day is the perfect day to make sure EVERY eligible person in your family or household is registered to vote at their current address. Ballots get mailed to voters in 13 days!
Have you recently married, moved or become a brand new U.S. citizen? These are just a few of the reasons why your voter registration may be out of date. To check your voter registration status in Orange County, click here. OCEA members at the Registrar of Voters are working hard to make sure voter registration is timely and accurate. If you live outside of Orange County, you can check your status here at the California Secretary of State's website.
There are also local voter registration drives taking place today. One of them is sponsored by State Senator Tom Umberg. Click here for details.
This year, due to COVID-19, voter registration is more important than ever. Because of the closure of DMVs and halting of voter registration field programs amid the pandemic, the number of new and updated voter registrations collected across the country has fallen dramatically since March.
New voter engagement and participation is key in winning down-ballot local races like county, city, school board, and water district elections. These offices are just as important as the Presidency and, as public servants, can impact our life at work on a daily basis. Your OCEA Voter Guide is coming soon but the guide won't be of much use if you aren't registered to vote.
Every election is important. Your vote is your voice and we need the voice of working families to be heard now more than ever. Happy Voter Registration Day!
