Laguna Niguel Negotiations Update: April 24, 2023

OCEA member,

The OCEA negotiations team met with the City on Thursday, April 20 for our second formal negotiations session. You will recall that at our first meeting we provided the City with our initial bargaining proposal. You can read our latest recap here.

Wednesday's meeting was both productive and positive. The City presented us with a thorough and comprehensive opening proposal. It reflected a recognition by the City of the valuable contributions made by ALL union members. We were able to reach tentative agreements on a number of important topics including enhanced benefits, expanded protections, and improvements to work/life balance.

The OCEA negotiations team left Wednesday's session cautiously optimistic that bargaining is headed in the right direction. We are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, April 25 for our third negotiations session. Of course we will continue to discuss the most important item for OCEA members, base building wage increases. The number one goal of the OCEA negotiations team is to secure strong base building wage increases for every member.
