Laguna Niguel Update: June 11, 2024

Dear OCEA member,

Prior to last week’s City Council meeting, we communicated two important issues with you: class and compensation studies and aquatics outsourcing.

Last Tuesday night OCEA members attended the City Council meeting to formally communicate our concerns to City leaders. OCEA Assistant General Manager Tim Steed addressed the Council to bring attention to the need for OCEA-represented job titles to be studied regularly to ensure they stay competitive in the market.

Our comments also addressed the potential for outsourcing areas considered “difficult to hire for” without a proper salary study.

One such area is aquatics. OCEA opposes all attempts to outsource OCEA-represented work! While we continue to review the legality of such an action, the fact remains that a City resource such as the aquatics center should be preserved and staffed with City employees who have built and maintained it as a truly unique community resource.

Please join us at this upcoming OCEA event in Laguna Niguel:

In Solidarity,

OCEA
