Negotiations Update: Oct. 6

*Please take a moment to read an editorial in the Orange County Register from OCEA General Manager Jennifer Beuthin calling for fair treatment for Court Workers.

OCEA Court member,

Yesterday your OCEA coalition bargaining team met with Court management for our scheduled negotiations session. Disappointingly, the parties remain significantly apart on the issue of wages.

Over the past month your team has solicited input from members at every Justice Center and we have clearly heard your message—continuing the status quo, falling further and further behind economically, is not acceptable. Based on your input, your bargaining team continues to take a strong position that you and your families have sacrificed enough and now demand a fair and equitable base-building wage increase. Your bargaining team has heard from all of you loud and clear, and we are committed to holding the line on wages.

To provide clear evidence of our position, we are circulating a petition that calls on the CEO and Presiding Judge to end the hypocrisy of wage disparity and provide all OCEA members with a meaningful wage increase! If you have not yet signed the petition, please contact an OCEA Steward at your Justice Center or contact Tim Steed to make sure you and your co-workers have signed the petition.

Your bargaining team is scheduled to meet again with the Court on Thursday, Oct. 12. Please make sure you and your co-workers have signed the bargaining petition so we can demonstrate to the Court, the CEO, and the Presiding Judge your clear and unambiguous position—we have sacrificed enough, our families have suffered enough, it's time for the Court to shift priorities and provide us with a meaningful base wage increase.

In Solidarity,

Bridgette Washington
Sr. Labor Relations Representative
