Next Week! SSO General Member Meeting

Dear SSO OCEA member,

Please join your fellow SSOs at a general member meeting to be held at OCEA on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. This will be the time for qualified candidates to submit nominations for the SSO Executive Committee officer election to be held in March. Because there have not been recent elections due to the litigation, we want to review here the composition of the Executive Committee, the Executive Committee elected officers, and candidate eligibility requirements.

The Executive Committee serves at the discretion of the OCEA Board of Directors as an advisory committee to that Board. The committee is comprised of three officers who serve two-year terms: Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary. Those officers collectively may but are not required to appoint a maximum of one additional Executive Committee member from each of the following divisions: Corrections, Airport, Security Bureau, Court Services, and Support Services. The election for President is held in March of odd-numbered years, and the election for Vice-Chair and Secretary is held in March of even-numbered years. To be eligible to serve, Executive Committee members (both elected and appointed) must be and remain: (1) an OCEA member in good standing; (2) an SSO bargaining unit member; (3) an LDF member; and (4) an OCEA Steward.

The election for Executive Committee Vice-Chair and Secretary will be held in March and nominations of qualified candidates (by yourself or others) shall be made at the general member meeting Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 5:30p.m. at OCEA.

Your SSO Executive Committee.
