OC San Negotiations Update: April 4, 2025
Dear OCEA Member,
Your OCEA negotiations team met with OC San bargaining representatives on Thursday, March 27, to present our opening proposal. This proposal was built directly on the priorities you identified in the negotiations survey conducted late last year. Your team carefully reviewed each survey response to ensure our proposal accurately reflects members' needs and concerns.
Your OCEA negotiations team includes Alisha Greene, OCEA Labor Relations Representative; Veronica Rodarte, OCEA Operations Manager; Carlos Rosales, OCEA Lead Organizer; Mickey Whitney, Senior Construction Inspector; Dana Andrews, Senior Construction Inspector; Bobby Martinez, Materials Management Clerk; Christiana Richardson, Administrative Assistant; Dennis Dilliner, Source Control Inspector; and David Mallonee, Environmental Technician.
Highlights from our opening proposal include:
- Wage increases over the next three years
- Increased Development Pay for both educational degrees and certifications
- An increased District deferred compensation match
- Increases to leave balances, including floating holidays, supplemental leave, vacation time, and bereavement leave
- More flexible work schedules and a fair process for requesting alternate work schedules or telecommuting
- Updated language on call-back pay and increased standby pay
- A stronger role and voice for employees in the classification study process
- Improvements to y-rating protections
- An increase to the safety boot allowance
- A tangible recognition for employees not eligible to telecommute
Our next meeting with the District is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, when we expect to receive their counterproposal.
As always, negotiations are a two-way street—while we’ve put forward a strong set of proposals, the District will present its own priorities. We won’t get everything we ask for, and neither will they. But your OCEA team is committed to fighting for the best possible contract for our members.
Stay tuned for future updates and be sure to check your email regularly. If you have questions about the negotiations process or our proposal, feel free to reach out to Alisha at AGreene@ocea.org.
In Solidarity,
Your OC SAN/OCEA Negotiations Team
