OCEA Health Fair goes virtual
Dear OCEA member,
OCEA's annual Health Fair, presented by the OCEA Health & Welfare Trust, returns beginning today, Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. And while it’s still the OCEA Health Fair, the event is going to be...well...different.
Concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus have led to a transformation of the Health Fair held since 1992 under the OCEA building and in our parking lots. Even though we can't have our annual in-person event, we've gone virtual to provide a Health Fair experience that is bigger and better than ever.
You can begin your virtual tour of the OCEA Health Fair online by going to ocea.org/healthfair and exploring the "My Health & Safety tab. As you wander through this virtual experience, there will be vendor "booths," health-related information stops, opportunity drawings for better-than-ever prizes, and a few surprises along the way.
Please check your emails frequently in September as we will continue to offer fun prizes in upcoming opportunity drawings. You can meet the winners (may be you?) on our social media pages. By going virtual, we can keep the Health Fair going the entire month.
And there's more: Throughout the fall, OCEA's Organizing Team will visit worksites across the County to distribute more than 8,000 insulated cooler bags chock full of the OCEA-branded merchandise and vendor giveaways you are accustomed to receiving. These items are exclusively available to OCEA-represented workers.
It wouldn’t be an OCEA Health Fair without the vendors who offer their products and services aimed at improving your overall health and quality of life. I want to thank them (see below) for being willing to continue our partnerships through these unprecedented times.
The Health Fair takes place during open enrollment and even though we can’t meet in-person, the OCEA Benefits Team will be available by phone or online to help keep your family protected with the dental, vision, and disability insurance benefits offered through the Health and Welfare Trust.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, OCEA continues to have readily available professional advocates for your safety in the workplace, for your economic security, and for stability for you and your families.
It’s still the OCEA Health Fair, just different!
In Solidarity,
Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
