OCEA Letter to the Court - 6/22/2021
Dear OCEA member,
On June 17, OCEA notified the Court that pursuant to California law we wished to meet and confer regarding the Court’s proposed revisions to Cal/OSHA Emergency Temporary Standards. You can review the letter here. The revisions contained a description of changes the Court intends to implement regarding face coverings, physical distancing, and future requirements applicable to members of the public.
On Tuesday, June 22 OCEA sent the attached letter to the Orange County Superior Court regarding Presiding Judge Larsh’s “Administrative Order 20/16 Required Safety Measures and Face Coverings in Court.” You can review the letter here. Requiring employees to submit documentation while members of the public and justice partners can self-attest to their vaccination status constitutes disparate treatment. We have requested the Court cease and desist all requirements to provide documentation of vaccination status until we have a chance to meet and confer over the issue.
OCEA is meeting with Court management on Friday, June 25. Updates to follow.
In Solidarity,
Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
