OCEA member safety and COVID-19
Over the past few weeks, OCEA has monitored the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 pandemic in the context of OCEA member safety and financial security. Your and your co-workers are on the front line routinely interacting with members of the public. As of today, the County of Orange has not taken the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of its workforce. This afternoon I sent the following letter to County of Orange C.E.O. Frank Kim and the members of the Board of Supervisors demanding action—flexible work options, limitations on public access, and additional sanitation measures.
Your health and safety, and that of your family, is OCEA's number one priority. We will continue to communicate with your and your co-workers as these rapidly changing events unfold.
In Solidarity,
Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
