Superior Court Paralegal Class & Comp Update
Dear OCEA member,
As you may know, paralegals in the Superior Court requested a Classification & Compensation Study last August. The study was completed in June and based on the study results the Court has proposed several changes. Among those proposed changes were an increase in the Paralegal salary range from CD52 to CD55, and an increase in the Paralegal Trainee salary range from CD46 to CD49. The Court also proposed several changes to the job descriptions of both classifications.
In preparation for a meeting with the Court, OCEA Senior Labor Relations Representative Michelle Rubio and a group of paralegals met on July 6 to discuss the study, its results, and the Court’s proposed actions. Our discussion included assessing the market position of both classifications and recommendations for changes to their proposed job descriptions. Thank you to each paralegal who attended the meeting and particular thanks to Linda Moz and Gabriela Hoffman, who volunteered to do additional preparatory work prior to meeting with the Court.
Our meeting with the Court, attended by Michelle, Linda and Gabriela, occurred July 17 and lasted several hours. We proposed additional salary range increases and multiple edits to the job descriptions. The Court agreed to many of our proposed language revisions and agreed to consider and respond soon to our economic recommendations.
Your OCEA Superior Court representatives are leading the fight for the compensation you deserve and to improve your position in the paralegal market. Please watch for updates as those efforts continue.
In Solidarity,
OCEA
