PCEA reaches tentative agreement with City
Dear PCEA member,
A few short weeks ago we met to discuss the status of negotiations with the City. At that time the City had failed to propose any general wage increases. You and your co-workers sent a strong and clear message to the City its position was totally unacceptable.
Today, I am happy to announce that your message made a difference and we have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. The terms of the tentative agreement include base building wage increases along with a one-time bonus just in time for the holidays.
Here are the Tentative Agreement terms:
- Term:
- Two year term from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023.
- Compensation:
- 3% general wage increase retroactive to the first full pay period of July 2021.
- 3% general wage increase effective the first full pay period of July 2022.
- Holiday Closure:
- PTO leave as described in Article XVII, Section B will be continued during the term of the MOU.
- Boot allowance:
- Addition of Records Specialists, Public Safety Dispatchers, and Senior Code Enforcement Officers as eligible classifications.
- Uniform Cleaning Allowance:
- Addition of Records Specialists and Parking Control Officers as eligible classifications.
- Class and Compensation Study:
- The City shall conduct and complete a classification and compensation study of all PCEA-represented classifications no later than Dec. 31, 2022. Results from the market study shall be subject to meet and confer as part of the successor MOU negotiations.
- Public Safety Dispatch:
- Dispatchers who are scheduled to work an overtime shift and subsequently have the overtime shift cancelled with less than 24 hour notice shall receive 2 hours of regular pay for each occurrence.
- One Time Bonus:
- All employees in a paid status as of the approval and adoption of this MOU will receive a one time, non-PERSable bonus, of 3%.
We will conduct a ratification vote from Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 in Council Chambers. Lunch will be provided.
Thank you for your patience and willingness to let the City Council know you wouldn’t settle for anything less than a fair contract. Standing together we were able to move the City and achieve several great benefits and improvement for PCEA members.
In solidarity,
Veronica Rodarte
