Postponement of Annual Meeting/Election

Dear AMEA member,

The COVID-19 pandemic crisis has impacted all of our lives in big ways and small. City Hall is closed to the public and the AMEA office is temporarily closed. The Governor, the California Department of Health, and the Orange County Medical Officer have issued a series of directives regarding personal conduct during the pandemic, including a ban on large gatherings and numerous other social distancing measures.

In order to comply with the letter and spirit of the law, and to actively contribute to the effort to locally limit transmission of the COVID-19 virus, the AMEA Executive Board has unanimously agreed to postpone the AMEA annual member meeting and Board election normally held in the month of May.

We will continue to monitor the pandemic and the risk it entails to all of us, our families, friends, and neighbors. At such time as the risk has dissipated, local and statewide directives have been withdrawn, and it is once again safe to gather together, we will reschedule our annual member meeting and election.

Stay safe and remember AMEA’s representation of bargaining unit employees is fully operational. If you have questions about the City’s response to the pandemic, please refer to the email with attachments we sent you last week. The City’s revised policies and related information are also available on the City’s website on the Human Resources page. If you still have questions or require representation, please call or email the AMEA office or one of us. You can also contact one of our Labor Representatives, Bridgette Harris (bharris@ocea.org) Michelle Rubio (mrubio@ocea.org), or Veronica Rodarte (vrodarte@ocea.org).
