Public Guardian Caseload Forum Update: Oct. 23, 2020
Dear OCEA Member,
I want to thank OCEA members and workplace leaders who participated in this week's Public Guardian Caseload Forum. Here's a brief summary of the agenda items we wanted to make sure were covered:
Reconvene General Staff meetings
Public Guardian Jenny Quian agreed to reconvene general staff meetings on a quarterly basis via Zoom. Staff meetings will help keep everyone informed and up to date. When staff is included in discussions and decisions of important issues, it improves morale and motivation in the workplace. Both are much needed in this age of COVID-19.
HCA Mobility Project clarification
According to Jenny Quian, implementation of the HCA Mobility Project is intended to make telecommuting easier. That said, the effort is very much a work-in-progress and additional information on the project will be forthcoming from IT.
Caseload stats
During the month of October there were 782 LPS cases; 230 Probate cases; and 295 Deceased/Term cases.
Other items included updated Deputy ID cards. These are being issued this week along with collection of the old ID cards. A question also came up about the procedure for sending and receiving mail through USPS. The process remains the same.
A collaborative setting like the Caseload Forum provides an opportunity to let our voices be heard in the workplace. Remember that together, we have a much stronger voice.
In Solidarity,
Bridgette Harris
OCEA Operations Manager
