Rally! CFS Clerical Workers fight for Telecommute Fairness
Dear OCEA member,
Your Clerical Worker colleagues at Children and Family Services (CFS), SSA are fighting for workplace safety and the ability to telecommute. Come join them at a rally tomorrow, January 20, 2022, outdoors in front of the SSA building, 840 Eckhoff Street in Orange. Don't forget to wear your mask. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a brief program at noon including speakers.
Just ten days into the New Year, the County reported more than 30 COVID-positive workers at the Eckhoff facility and the numbers keep climbing. So far, SSA managers have refused to lower the risk of COVID-19 infections to Clerical Workers by allowing them to telecommute. Even earlier this week, the agency denied that there was an outbreak at the location. The disregard for safety and refusal of SSA to acknowledge an outbreak in their locations is unacceptable.
Workplace leaders and OCEA staff have sent letters and emails demanding a fair telecommuting policy. You can review the latest one by clicking here. Management's response allowing only one (1) telecommute day per week is woefully inadequate in the face of the risks involved.

Clerical Workers want action now. Join your coworkers tomorrow and show your support. We are not going to win this unless we stand together.
