Regarding Recent News Reports About the Board of Supervisors
Dear OCEA member,
You are likely aware of the recent news reports regarding the Board of Supervisors member representing the First District. You have also received an email from Acting CEO Michelle Aguirre regarding those reports, which also included the County’s Fraud Hotline phone number at (714) 834-3608.
OCEA encourages all members to utilize that resource if appropriate and you feel comfortable doing so. The County is full of incredible public servants and leaders, and no one should feel or be intimidated to speak the truth.
This week during the Board of Supervisors meeting Supervisor Katrina Foley concluded her comments on this issue with this message to County workers, which we want to share:
“To our County staff, you are our family, and we support you. We will do better, and our voice will always be heard. Whether you’re a department head, a nurse, a janitor, or a receptionist, I want you to all know that we will always listen to you,” she said. “You should never fear reaching out to our office—on any issue big or small. We are here for you.”
If you experience any sort of intimidation, please reach out to OCEA. We will respect your privacy, and we will support you.
As always, we are strongest when we stand together.
In Solidarity,
Judy Bowling, OCEA President
Charles Barfield, OCEA General Manager
